All Day Appointments

Sometimes I wonder if some English firms should exist at all. The main gas contractor of my housing association Circle Anglia has given me an "All Day Gas appointment." I have to be available all day until it pleases them to come. What's wrong with two hour slots. You would expect such appointments in underdeveloped countries where bus and train connections are unreliable and a person can not predict when she or he arrives, but in London?

There is a reason why trains and buses in Germany are in time. People would not accept such inability to organise a day's work!
